That 'off with the fairy-ness' has led many children to forget about their booking to OOSH and when the roll is marked and they aren't present, it's not a good feeling... 99% of the time all is well and we hear all the excuses under the sun! "I forgot i was booked in today...", "mum and dad didn't tell me i was coming today", " i thought i was going home with little Timmy today"... the list goes on... All the while we as staff have been frantically looking around the school and calling parents or carers!! Not fun for anyone... Yet the solution to it all is simple, OOSH Bands!!!


WHAT ARE OOSH BANDS? They are soft, allergen free, silicone wrist bands worn by children that act as a simple and constant reminder to kids who are attending OOSH that day. Custom to fit in with school colours, OOSH Bands are a fun and friendly reminder.  

How do they work? On the day your child or children attend OOSH, parents/carers ensure they are wearing their OOSH Band as the leave the house or are dropped off at school. Once the child is wearing their band they will constantly be reminded by noticing the band on their wrist throughout the day, as well as having other children observing and commenting on their band, providing a consistent reminder. At the end of the day if the child starts wandering off to a "meeting point", friends, teachers or other parents will be able to remind them, by seeing the band, that they are meant to be going to OOSH.

Childcare and after hours care is growing, as is the number of kid's with allergies! Most centers and schools are experiencing a higher number of kids which can make it difficult to remember the children who have some sort of allergy, especially for casual staff! 

We've worked with kids for such a long time and know the importance of recognizing an allergy and how much seconds count if someone shows any symptoms. If you notice a child who is a little out of breath or showing signs of redness and they have an Alert band on, ask a question. Are you feeling ok? Could save their life.
